It’s hard to believe it, but it’s my final spring break as a college student! I’m preparing for an amazing trip, and I hope you are too. If you’re looking for places to get away, both domestic and international, check out my recommendations.
New Orleans, Louisiana
This vibrant city turns 300 years old this year! Head down to experience all that Louisiana has to offer. From cajun food to jazz music and nightlife galore, this is a great place to spend a week. The weather is warmer and the people are livelier.
Heading west is a wonderful idea. You can select a few national parks that are near each other and plan to visit three or four within the week. Grouping suggestions:
- Wyoming: Yellowstone & Grand Tetons National Parks
- Washington: Mt. Rainier, North Cascades & Olympic National Parks
- Southern California: Yosemite, Death Valley, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks
- Utah: Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands & Arches National Parks
Florida is always a popular destination, but that’s because it has sunny, warm weather when much of the rest of the country is still cold. Try St. Augustine for some history, Orlando for Disney World, Marco Island for a beach filled with shells, or Rosemary Beach for a relaxing stay by the Gulf of Mexico. Also look into state parks around Florida!
March is a great time to visit Italy because it’s still the off-season. Italy is on everyone’s bucket list, which means it is extremely crowded during the peak tourist seasons. In early spring you’ll have much better access to ancient sites, wineries and the Vatican. While you can’t fit everything into one week, you can pick a few cities and make the most of them! Head to Tuscany for wine, the Amalfi coast for stunning sea views, and Rome for a classic Italian experience.
Beautiful beaches, stunning waterfalls, aerial walkways, and mouth-watering street food? And I haven’t even mentioned the weather yet. Warm and tropical, this is a unique and fun destination for a week-long getaway.
Which sounds better: Key West, Bahamas, or Mexico? Head down to the Caribbean for a sea getaway. Cruises are the best of both worlds because you have fun on the boat as well as exploring the islands. My favorite parts of cruising is reading books and sipping cocktails on deck.
This country has become a travel hotspot in recent years, and part of the reason is because WOW airlines is so affordable. Grab a really cheap airline ticket, rent a camper van and circle Iceland’s Ring Road. For a shorter road trip drive around the Golden Circle.
