The Ultimate Muncie Brew Guide

Is there a better way to spend a night out than at a local brewery enjoying live music and craft beer? There are so many places to grab a drink in this town, it can be overwhelming! Here is my guide to the best bars, pubs and breweries in Muncie.

Downtown

Twin Archer Brewpub

This is a great place to start because it has great beer, delicious food, a fantastic atmosphere and it is open to people of all ages.

Location: 117 W Charles St, Muncie, IN 47305

Age Restriction:Bar 21+, Restaurant all ages

Beer You Can’t Miss: “Zombie Dust.” Pale Ale – American, 3 Floyds Brewing Company.

My Recommendation: Try the “Chef Fries.” They are fried in duck fat and covered in garlic, maple syrup and fried eggs. Toss a little salt on top for a great mix with the sweetness of the maple syrup!

Elm Street Brewing Co.

In my opinion, Elm Street is best bar in Muncie. Its selection of beer and cider is vast and completely unique; the aesthetic of this bar is authentic as it was built in an old ice factory; in the summer time they have live music out in their beer garden; and they are now offering food.

Location: 519 N Elm St, Muncie, IN 47305

Age Restriction: 21+

Beer You Can’t Miss: Cafe Coco Loco – Batch #2. Stout – American.

My Recommendation:Try a flight of different drafts and ciders. There are so many to chose from and they are constantly changing! My personal favorite is The Witch: A black saison brewed with sweet grass, marshmallow root, hibiscus, and wild cherry bark.

My Flight: The Witch, Peach’n Blues Redux, Pride of New Orleans, Up the Anti Matter, Death of a Norseman

The Guardian Brewing Co.

This is another bar I recommend because of its atmosphere. Built in an old factory building, The Guardian has a very industrial look and feel. The names of their beers are fun too!

Location: 514 E Jackson St, Muncie, IN 47305

Age Restriction: 21+

Beer You Can’t Miss: “Beauty School Dropout.” This American Amber Ale is spectacular!

My Recommendation: Try a flight! For just $6 you can sample four 5 oz glasses of beer. They have many choices from IPA’s to cream ales.

The aesthetic of this bar is incredible. It’s industrious and unique.

The Heorot

I’m all about themed bars, and this viking-themed bar is truly one-of-a-kind. It comes complete with Beowulf quotes on the wall, a stone fireplace and a fierce dragon looking down at you!

Location: 219 S Walnut St, Muncie, IN 47305

Age Restriction: 21+

Beer You Can’t Miss: Woodchuck Amber (Cider)

My Recommendation: This bar is known for its vast selections of beer. Its menu is six pages long! This can be very overwhelming, so I recommend you do some research before you go. Pick a few you’d like to try so ordering will be easy. You can see their beer menu here.

Fickle Peach

If you’re looking for trivia nights, pool tables and plenty of space, head over to the Fickle Peach. They have a great selection of brews hand-written on their chalkboard menu. Ask the bartenders for their recommendations!

Location: 117 E Charles St, Muncie, IN 47305

Beer You Can’t Miss: Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale

My Recommendation: Ask the bartender for a recommendation. She offered me a free sample of a raspberry beer that was delicious and not even written on the menu!

Savage’s Ale House

Beer You Can’t Miss: Chuck Berry

My Recommendation: Savage’s has the best fried pickles in Muncie! The food here is cheap and delicious, so pair it with a good beer.

The Chug

The Chug is a great option for those looking for fun nightlife. This is definitely a college bar filled with pool tables, loud music (and karaoke on some occasions) and grungy bathrooms. But you can’t miss $5 pitchers of beer and a good time with friends.

Location: 409 N Martin St, Muncie, IN 47303

Drink You Can’t Miss: Riot Punch

My Recommendation: Head over to The Chug for Thursday karaoke nights! Whether you’re brave enough to get up on stage or you prefer to sing along to the songs from your booth, it’ll be fun.

I love the unique signs decorating The Chug.

Brothers Bar & Grill

This is definitely a college bar. With karaoke on Sunday nights, specials each day of the week and a crowd always under 30, it’s a really fun bar.

ShotYou Can’t Miss: Gummi Bear Shot

My Recommendation: Brother’s has a collection of 24 different pitchers of Cruzan Long Island iced teas. Some even have red bull in them. These individual pitchers are delicious and fun. My recommendation is to try the 70’s mixer!

Misc. Muncie

Books & Brews

I had to include this bar because of my enduring love of books. This bar is also a bookstore and the names of its drinks are puns relating to classic literature.

Location: 2100 W White River Blvd Suite B, Muncie, IN 47303

Age Restriction: Open for all ages

Beer You Can’t Miss: Cream & Punishment

My Recommendation: Head to Books & Brews for a trivia night! I attended Parks & Rec Trivia and it was a blast. They also have themed parties and bingo nights. Check their Facebook page for updates.

Puerto Vallarta

Even though it’s a restaurant and not a bar, this chain is the best place to get a great margarita!

Marg You Can’t Miss: Sky Margarita (made with Blue Curaçao!)

My Recommendation: This place is best enjoyed with friends. Grab some tacos and margaritas and enjoy a night off. If you stick with the regular sized margaritas you can enjoy a few different flavors. If you’re with a group, buy a few pitchers instead!

When I pose with a Monster Marg I never pick it up.

Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Company

Stop here to sit outside and enjoy an Indiana summer evening. I love this place because of its location right next to downtown, so its quiet and relaxing. It’s the best spot to order a $3 draft (Mon-Thurs) and a specialty pizza and enjoy the night.

Location: 625 S High St, Muncie, IN 47305

Beer You Can’t Miss: Rocky Ripple

My Recommendation:Order one of their specialty pizzas, or build your own. And don’t forget to check out their monthly special, you never know what they’re going to come up with next.
